Julia Asanov
About me
Hi, I’m Julia — a Psychologist with training in both Germany and Australia, and a strong focus on trauma-informed, compassionate care. Since completing my initial postgraduate psychology qualification in Germany in 2013 and a Master of Clinical Psychology in Melbourne in 2019, I’ve worked across a variety of settings including hospitals, community mental health services, university clinics, and perinatal mental health. I support clients with a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, perinatal mental health, and adjustment to life changes. I also offer therapy in German.
How I will help you
I aim to create a warm and inclusive space where you feel safe to explore your experiences at your own pace. Therapy with me is a collaborative process — one where we uncover patterns, emotions, and beliefs, while also recognising your strengths and inner resources. Drawing on a range of evidence-based approaches, including CBT, ACT, mindfulness, and trauma-informed therapies such as Interpersonal Neurobiology, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Sensorimotor techniques, I’ll support you in developing deeper self-understanding, more self-compassion, and new ways of coping that are meaningful and sustainable.
When I’m not working
I love spending quality time with loved ones, connecting with nature, and creating healthy, nourishing meals — especially when they’re shared with others.

You do not need a referral to see a Psychologist at Seed Psychology. However, if you’d like to claim a Medicare rebate, you will need a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP. With a MHCP, you may be eligible for rebates on up to 10 sessions per calendar year. These sessions can be used at any psychology clinic of your choice. To access Medicare psychology rebates, book an appointment with your GP and ask for a Mental Health Care Plan. Most referrals begin with 6 sessions, with the option to access 4 more after a review. Referrals can also be provided by a psychiatrist or paediatrician.
