About me

Hi, I’m David, a Senior Clinical Psychologist and Board-Approved Supervisor here at Seed. I’ve been supporting people in their mental health journeys since 2002, when I started out in a drug and alcohol outreach team. Since then, I’ve worked across inpatient units, community mental health, and private practice, supporting both adults and adolescents through a wide range of life challenges. I support people with anxiety, trauma, substance use, depression, anger, and stress, and I have a strong interest in men’s mental health and relationship concerns. I also offer couples counselling and professional supervision for other clinicians.

How I will help you

Underlying my treatment approach and our work together is a foundation of client-centred support, in tandem with motivational challenge and goal-setting. I aim to provide a nurturing space where you can feel safe to explore emotional challenges, as well as examining where you can build on your successes.

When I’m not working

You’ll often find me cycling, practising yoga, or playing music with friends — usually the trumpet or mandolin.

  • You do not need a referral to see a Psychologist at Seed Psychology. However, if you’d like to claim a Medicare rebate, you will need a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP. With a MHCP, you may be eligible for rebates on up to 10 sessions per calendar year. These sessions can be used at any psychology clinic of your choice. To access Medicare psychology rebates, book an appointment with your GP and ask for a Mental Health Care Plan. Most referrals begin with 6 sessions, with the option to access 4 more after a review. Referrals can also be provided by a psychiatrist or paediatrician.

  • Our client care team will support you through every step of getting started. They’ll take the time to understand your needs and preferences, then thoughtfully match you with a psychologist whose approach and availability align with what you’re looking for.

When matching you with a Psychologist, we consider:

    • The reason you’re seeking therapy
    • Your availability and preferred session times
    • Whether you’d like to attend in person or online
    • The therapeutic approaches most suited to your needs
    • Any other preferences you share with us
  • We understand that finding the right fit is important. Building a strong relationship with your psychologist can take time, but if at any point you feel the connection isn’t quite right, we’ll support you in transferring to someone new. Your well-being is always our priority.

  • Our experienced team of Psychologists offers warm, evidence-based support that’s collaborative, inclusive and grounded in genuine understanding. We provide individual, relationship or family therapy for a wide range of concerns. Additionally, we offer couples therapy, online therapy, psychological assessments (including ADHD and Autism Spectrum Assessments), and workshops.

  • If you have extras cover, private health insurance may provide rebates. Check your individual policy for coverage and claiming options.
