Specialised assessments

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Learning difficulties
  • Emotional and behavioural concerns
  • Cognitive functioning (IQ testing)

Why seek a Psychological Assessment?

Whether you’re exploring a diagnosis for the first time or seeking updated insights to support life transitions, a psychological assessment can provide the clarity you need.

People come to us when they or their child are:

  • Struggling with focus, attention or restlessness
  • Finding it difficult to manage emotions or relationships
  • Noticing sensory sensitivities or differences in social communication
  • Falling behind at school or work despite trying hard
  • Feeling misunderstood or “different” without knowing why

An assessment can offer answers, support planning (including at school, work, or home), and guide access to services such as NDIS, educational adjustments, or medication management.

ASD Assessments

We provide Autism assessments for children, adolescents, and adults, using gold-standard tools and a strengths-based, affirming approach.

Our autism assessment process typically includes:

  • A thorough clinical interview with the client and/or family
  • Standardised tools such as the ADOS-2, SRS-2, or other relevant measures
  • Developmental and behavioural history
  • Collaboration with schools, GPs, or other professionals (with consent)
  • A clear, detailed report with recommendations
  • A feedback session to guide next steps

We are committed to neurodiversity-affirming practices and create a calm, respectful space for each individual to feel safe, understood, and empowered.

ADHD Assessments

Our ADHD assessments help to identify how attention, concentration, executive function, and impulsivity are impacting daily life—whether in childhood, adolescence, or adulthood.

Assessments include:

  • Clinical interview and symptom history
  • Behavioural and cognitive questionnaires
  • Where appropriate, input from teachers or other caregivers
  • Screening for related concerns (e.g. anxiety, learning difficulties)
  • A comprehensive diagnostic report and personalised feedback

Our clinicians consider the broader picture of each client’s life to provide meaningful, practical recommendations—not just a diagnosis.

What to expect

Each assessment process is tailored to your specific needs. It generally includes:

  1. Initial consultation – to understand your concerns and goals
  2. Testing sessions – in person, in a quiet, supportive environment
  3. Scoring and analysis – using validated, evidence-based tools
  4. Comprehensive report – with clear results and practical recommendations
  5. Feedback session – to discuss outcomes, options, and next steps

Assessments can also be delivered partially via telehealth when appropriate, with in-clinic testing completed at our Brunswick practice.
